President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday welcomed the troops of the Indian Army in the event of Army Day and also welcomed the officers.

"On Army Day, welcome to the valiant men and ladies of the Indian Army, to veterans and to groups of the individuals who have worn the uniform. You are our country's pride, the sentinels of our freedom. Nationals rest safely knowing you are ever wakeful and ever watchful #PresidentKovind," the official Twitter handle of the President of India read.

Mr. Modi saluted the Army workforce who relinquished their lives while serving the country and said each subject of the nation has "relentless trust and pride" in the Indian Army.

"On Army Day, I pass on welcome to the warriors, veterans and their families. Each native of India has immovable trust and pride in our Army, which secures the country and is additionally at the cutting edge of helpful endeavors amid times of cataclysmic events and different mischances," he composed on his official Twitter handle.

"Our Army dependably puts the country first. I salute every one of those awesome people who yielded their lives while serving the country. India will always remember our valiant legends," the PM included.

Armed force Day is commended on January 15 consistently to stamp Field Marshal K M Cariappa's assuming control as the principal president of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher in 1949.
